Random fun fact: Sharks are older than trees and dinosaurs
Trees appeared during the Devonian period, between 419 million to 358 million years ago.
Dinosaurs appeared during the Triassic period, between 243 and 233.23 million years ago ( there was life before the Triassic but this time period is the most famous. )
Sharks appered during the Late Ordovician Period, around 450 million years ago.
I submit to you that the most iconic feature of any animal is either unlikely or impossible to fossilize.
If all we had of wolves were their bones we would never guess that they howl.
If all we had of elephants were fossils with no living related species, we might infer some kind of proboscis but we’d never come up with those ears.
If all we had of chickens were bones, we wouldn’t know about their combs and wattles, or that roosters crow.
We wouldn’t know that lions have manes, or that zebras have stripes, or that peacocks have trains, that howler monkeys yell, that cats purr, that deer shed the velvet from their antlers, that caterpillars become butterflies, that spiders make webs, that chickadees say their name, that Canada geese are assholes, that orangutans are ginger, that dolphins echolocate, or that squid even existed.
My point here is that we don’t know anything about dinosaurs. If we saw one we would not recognize it. As my evidence I submit the above, along with the fact that it took us two centuries to realize they’d been all around us the whole time.

The first dinosaur that appears in the show (unless you count the hatching baby Plateosaurus). An early relative of the Jurassic carnivore Dilophosaurus, Liliensternus was one of the largest land predators during the Triassic Period.

Dino of the day:
Coelophysis:
The Coelophysis (Hollow one) was named by Edward Drinker Cope in 1889.
It is a carnivore dinosaur.
The Coelophysis time period was the Carnian to Norian of the Triassic.
It is a frequently used dinosaur to show the early dinosaurs.
The Coelophysis has hollow bones inaide making it light and it was a small dinosaur. It also had long legs making it easy to catch prey.
Like all theropods, Coelophysis was bipedal.
Coelophysis probably hunted by sight, and was active during the day.

MaySozoic Day 28: Tanystropheus
The Anazah are, by all accounts, near globally aware of this species, but due to the fact they lived in the Campanian, they have no strict idea what exactly these creatures were.
Some believed them old plesiosaurs, some crocodiles, others snake... most believed them to be a mix of any of those three.

23 February 2024
—
The Triassic period was the first period of the Mesozoic era and occurred between 251.9 million and 201.3 million years ago.
It followed the great mass extinction at the end of the Permian period and was a time when life outside of the oceans began to diversify.

It’s been 10 years ever since the bizzare-headed marine reptile Atopodentatus unicus, which lived about 247-240 million years ago, was discovered from the Triassic rocks of China, and it still continues to bewilder and fascinate many a paleontologist and paleo-nerd to this day.

Discovery of Gondwanax paraisensis: A Prehistoric Insight into Early Dinosaurs
The Discovery of Gondwanax paraisensis A fascinating discovery has emerged from the lush, fern-choked forests of what is now Paraíso do Sul, Brazil, where a dog-sized reptile roamed approximately 237 million years ago. This intriguing creature, known as Gondwanax paraisensis, possessed a physique reminiscent of a greyhound, complete with a long neck and tail, and a distinctive small beak designed…
